Operating Manual The Operating Committee supports the NERC reliability mission by
executing the policies, directives, and assignments of the Board of
Trustees, and advising the Board on operating reliability matters. The
Operating Committee also maintains a work plan that prioritizes the existing
and future work of the committee and its subgroups consistent with the
business and strategic plans of NERC. The Operating Committee's
responsibilities include the following functions:
- Assess, analyze, and report on bulk electric system operating
reliability performance.
- Coordinate operating reliability matters with Reliability Regions
and other organizations.
- Enable the reliable operation of interconnected bulk electric
systems by facilitating information exchange and coordination among
reliability service organizations.
- Assist the development and implementation of standards for the
reliable operation of bulk electric systems.
- Advise the Compliance and Certification functions on operating
reliability matters.
- Advise the NERC staff in the provision of education and training
resources to promote bulk electric system reliability.
- Coordinate the provision of applications (tools), data, and services
necessary to support the reliable operation of bulk electric systems.
- Assist the critical infrastructure protection program on matters
related to operating reliability.
- Advise the Dispute Resolution function as needed.
