
Richard Drouin - Chairman
Mr. Drouin is the
current Chairman of the NERC Board of Trustees and was first elected to the
NERC board in 1999. Richard Drouin is a Counsel in the law firm of McCarthy
Tetrault in Canada. Earlier, he was the Chairman and CEO of Hydro-Québec and
until recently Chairman of Abitibi-Consolidated. He received his
undergraduate degree from the University of Montreal and his law degree from
l'Université Laval in Québec City.
Mr. Drouin sits on the
boards of Addenda Capital, American Superconductor Corporation, Gesca
(French daily newspapers), nStein Technologies and President's Choice
Financial. He is a Fellow of the Royal Canadian Geographical Society, a
member of the National Round Table on the Environment and the Economy and a
Governor of the Council of Canadian Academies.
He is a Chairman of
the Board of Trustees of l'Université Laval. Mr. Drouin is a Companion of
the Order of Canada and an Officer of l’Ordre national de Quebec. In 2001,
he was nominated the Energy Person of the year by the Energy Council of
Canada. He is an Honorary Consul for Great Britain in Québec.
