Reliability Standards — Effective Dates for Mandatory Enforcement

Inactive Standards

NERC Reliability Standards are adopted in New Brunswick under the Electricity Market Rules according to the process set out under the Electricity Act for amending a market rule.

NERC files a Board approved standard and related information with the New Brunswick Energy and Utilities Board and copies the New Brunswick System Operator (NBSO). At the beginning of each calendar year the NBSO initiates the adoption process by posting a list of new or amended standards filed by NERC in the previous year for a 30 day review period. If there are no requests for the New Brunswick Energy and Utilities Board to review a new or modified standard the standard will be deemed approved at the end of the review period and will take effect on the prescribed date. The NBSO may also initiate the adoption process for a standard at any time during the year if conditions warrant such action. 

A listing of adopted standards is maintained and posted in Appendix B of the NBSO Reliability Compliance Program- Market Procedure 08.

NERC Board of Trustees Approval: the date on which the NERC Board of Trustees approved the standard in accordance with the implementation plan proposed by the standard.

Regulatory Approval Date: the date the applicable regulatory authority affirmatively acted to approve the standard or the period of review has expired and the standard is automatically approved.

Mandatory Effective Implementation Date: the date on which the standard becomes mandatory and enforceable in accordance with the existing laws of the jurisdiction.

BOT Approved Effective Date: the date approved by the NERC Board of Trustees for the standard to be implemented.
