Assessment Finds Resources Adequate for 2017 Summer
ATLANTA – Anticipated bulk power system resources in North America are sufficient to meet summer electricity demand for 2017, NERC concludes. Most regions are expected to meet their NERC-recommended reference levels for reserve margins. As a result of increased hydro supply in California, the state is not expected to rely as much on natural gas resources. The August 21 solar eclipse is not expected to impact the reliability of the bulk power system.
