NERC Provides Guidance on Paragraph 81 Compliance Monitoring and Enforcement
ATLANTA -- In response to Paragraph 81 of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission's March 15, 2012 order, NERC filed a petition identifying 34 requirements that should be retired. The 34 requirements found in 19 standards should be retired due because they are redundant or unnecessary, and violations of these requirements pose a lesser risk to the reliability of the bulk power system. The retirement of these 34 requirements supports the risk-based approach to compliance monitoring and enforcement, and allows for focusing attention, resources and actions on issues that are most important to reliability.
NERC has provided guidance regarding compliance and enforcement of the 34 requirements addresses how Regional Entities and registered entities should proceed with compliance monitoring and enforcement of the identified 34 requirements.
