Leading Indicators
Frequency Excursions | Frequency Response | IROL Violations | Transmission Loading Relief Requests | Vegetation Management

Reliability leading indicators are used as a guide to forecast reliability changes. The indicators include the effects of human activities as well as the influence of equipment difficulty on the reliability performance.
The objective is to recognize and eliminate unreliable actions and at-risk conditions. If great attention is not given to the observation of unreliable performance, sooner or later disturbance events will become more severe.
NERC is actively working to collect and analyze data on a number of leading reliability indicators. The pages above show information on existing indicators.
