Reliability Standards

Reliability Standards | Reliability and Market Interface Principles

The NERC Board of Trustees, in 2001, approved a new process to develop the standards that support the reliability of the bulk electric system in North America. The Reliability Standards Development Procedure redefines the process that was used to develop existing NERC planning standards and operating policies. Clarifications were made to the manual in 2002 and 2003 to incorporate a weighted segment voting model and to address questions raised by the American National Standards Institute. ANSI accredited NERC's standards development process in March 2003.
