ARLINGTON, VA – NERC’s Board of Trustees convened its quarterly meeting today in Arlington, Va. The meeting began with Board Chair Roy Thilly introducing Jim Robb, NERC’s new president and chief executive officer, who assumed the role on April 9. “The Board is pleased to welcome Jim to his first meeting as CEO. We have high confidence in his qualifications to lead this organization as we face exciting opportunities, as well as new challenges, to the reliability of the North American grid,” Thilly said.
Welcoming remarks were given by Tom Farrell, chair and chief executive officer of Dominion Energy, who highlighted the commitment both NERC and Dominion have to maintaining reliable, secure electricity on a rapidly changing grid.
Bruce Walker, assistant secretary of the Department of Energy, spoke to the importance of the partnership between DOE and NERC, noting that reliability is essential to protecting national security. Commissioner Richard Glick of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission addressed FERC’s resilience proceeding and cyber-security topics. Murray Doehler, past chair, CAMPUT, spoke to the importance of the Canadian/NERC relationship.
