Board Welcomes New Member, Appoints New Vice President and Adopts Three Standards Projects
SAN DIEGO – The North American Electric Reliability Corporation’s Board of Trustees adopted three Reliability Standards projects, welcomed a new member and appointed a new vice president at its quarterly meeting in San Diego. Ken Quesnelle, chair of the Canadian Association of Members of Public Utility Tribunals (CAMPUT), and Steve Berberich, president and chief executive officer of the California Independent System Operator (CAISO), made opening remarks. Gerry Cauley, NERC’s president and chief executive officer, commended industry on the accomplishments of the past year, noting the challenges they face to address reliability in a highly complex interconnected system that is undergoing significant change.
During the Member Representatives Committee meeting on February 11, George S. Hawkins was elected to NERC’s Board of Trustees. Hawkins is the chief executive officer and general manager of the District of Columbia Water and Sewer Authority in Washington, D.C. Hawkins assumes the seat vacated by Bruce A. Scherr, who retired from the Board after 13 years of service. The Board recognized Scherr’s contributions to NERC with a resolution noting his outstanding service to the ERO. In addition, Jan Schori and Kenneth G. Peterson were re-elected to Board for additional three-year terms.
