Board Welcomes New Member; Highlights U.S. and Mexican Collaboration; Adopts Two Standards Projects
SARASOTA, Fla. – The North American Electric Reliability Corporation’s Board of Trustees adopted two standards projects, welcomed a new member and appointed a new vice chair at its quarterly meeting.
Kenneth W. DeFontes Jr. was elected to the Board during the Member Representatives Committee meeting on February 10. DeFontes served as president and chief executive officer of Baltimore Gas and Electric Company from 2004-2014. Prior to that, he served in a number of different positions at BGE beginning in 1971. DeFontes earned a bachelor’s degree in Engineering from Swarthmore College and Master of Business Administration degree from Loyola College. He will serve on the Corporate Governance and Human Resources, Finance and Audit, Nominating, and Standards Oversight and Technology committees.
In other MRC action, Roy Thilly was elected vice chair of the Board and outgoing MRC chair Sylvain Clermont was lauded for his work on the committee. Taking over as MRC chair is Nabil Hitti, director of U.S. Business Development at National Grid, with John Twitty, executive director of Transmission Access Policy Study Group, serving as vice chair.
