Final 2016 ERO Risk Priorities Report Posted
ATLANTA – The final 2016 ERO Reliability Risk Priorities report was accepted by the NERC Board of Trustees on November 2 at its quarterly meeting in Atlanta and is now posted. The report, developed by the Reliability Issues Steering Committee, documents the RISC’s focus on nine key risks to the reliability and security of the bulk power system. Defining these categories allows industry to focus efforts on these issues with the most potential to impact reliability.
Risks were identified as: the changing resource mix; bulk power system planning; resource adequacy and performance; asset management and maintenance; human performance and skilled workforce; loss of situational awareness; extreme natural events; physical security vulnerabilities; and cyber security vulnerabilities.
The report informs the ERO Enterprise Strategic Plan, which is a key input into the annual business plan and budget. In addition, the recommendations for the mitigation of these risks are addressed through ERO Enterprise work plans and standing committee activities.
