International Information Sharing, Best Practices Highlighted at Annual Grid Security Conference
QUEBEC CITY – More than 400 leading security experts from industry and government gathered in Canada for the North American Electric Reliability Corporation’s annual grid security conference, which began today. The conference underscored the importance of international information sharing to address potential cyber and physical security threats facing the power grid.
Discussion included grid security perspectives from Canadian utilities, the ongoing cyber and physical security collaboration of U.S. and Canadian utilities with government agencies, lessons learned from the 2015 Ukraine event and intelligence gathering to protect the bulk power system.
Gerry Cauley, NERC’s president and chief executive officer, delivered the keynote address that highlighted the importance of information-sharing programs in industry and government to better identify security challenges and develop the strategies to address them.
