NEW YORK -- Marc Sachs, senior vice president and chief security officer at NERC, was part of the New York Cyber Security Task Force sponsored by Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs. The task force produced a report highlighting strategies that would make it easier to defend cyberspace without sacrificing the utility, flexibility and convenience the Internet provides.

The report, Building a Defensible Cyberspace, calls for more transparency, risk-based governance, increased use of cloud computing and other new technologies, as well as stressing the importance of federal funding, collaboration across sectors, and flexibility and resilience.
