Statement on November FERC Open Meeting Actions
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The North American Electric Reliability Corporation appreciates the actions the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission took at its open meeting today.
FERC issued a final rule approving nine standards related to transmission operations and interconnection reliability operations and coordination. FERC also directed NERC to make three modifications to the standards within 18 months of the effective date of the final rule. The TOP and IRO Reliability Standards establish or revise requirements for operations planning, system monitoring, real-time actions, coordination between applicable entities and operational reliability data.
In other action, FERC issued a final rule approving revisions to EOP-011-1 – Emergency Operations and PRC-010-1 – Undervoltage Load Shedding. The order also approves a revised definition of the term “Remedial Action Scheme” set forth in the NERC Glossary of Terms and modifications of specified standards to incorporate this revised definition.
NERC appreciates FERC’s continued recognition of the reliability benefit of these standards.
