NERC Participates in FERC Technical Conference on Reliability
WASHINGTON, DC – The North American Electric Reliability Corporation participated in the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission’s technical conference on reliability today. The conference, which occurs yearly, focused on the evolving issues that face the bulk power system and NERC initiatives to address those issues.
The day-long conference featured four panels that addressed the State of Reliability 2014 report, emerging issues, electric reliability organization (ERO) initiatives and ERO performance.
“NERC appreciates the opportunity to share our efforts, working with industry to improve and sustain reliability of the bulk power system,” said Gerry Cauley, president and chief executive officer at NERC. “NERC has matured as the electric reliability organization, adopting and promoting the use of risk-management approaches across ERO program areas and promoting risk-informed and prioritized actions by industry.”
Cauley and NERC staff provided testimony on ERO initiatives and efforts including the State of Reliability report and additional reliability assessments, including upcoming efforts to address essential reliability services; standards process improvements and compliance initiatives as well significant efforts related to risk based registration.
Participants in today’s conference included FERC commissioners, NERC leadership and staff, NERC regional CEOs, industry leaders from the United States and Canada, as well as association leaders. NERC Announcement | FERC Agenda
