Virtual Attendance: Webinar Registration Workshop Agenda
NERC's Engineering and Standards Development teams will host a technical workshop focused on the reliable integration of Inverter-Based Resources (IBR) and FERC Order No. 901 Milestone 3. This workshop is scheduled for January 2025 and will take place early in the Standards development process to address lessons learned from previous projects related to Milestone 2. On January 15, NERC's Engineering staff and industry experts will discuss the changing characteristics of the grid due to shifts in the resource mix. Key topics will include system strength, data validation for models, and performance issues related to inverter-based resources (IBRs). The goal of these discussions is to align on these challenges. On January 16, discussions will cover the directives of Order No. 901 Milestone 3 and NERC's Standards Development team's strategies for meeting these requirements. The Milestone 3 drafting teams will provide updates on their respective projects and outline their approach. As these projects are interrelated components of a comprehensive solution for performance in modeling, collaboration is essential for developing clear and effective strategies. The workshop will feature expert speakers in modeling and engineering, representing organizations such as SPIDRWEG, IRPS, and various Original Equipment Manufacturers. The workshop will also include in-person breakout groups, allowing participants to collaborate with drafting teams on project strategies and seek to establish a common framework of solutions and challenges.
