MSPPTF Seeks Feedback on White Paper Posted for Comment

Washington D.C. – The Modernization of Standards Processes and Procedures Task Force (MSPPTF) has posted a white paper on potential improvement opportunities for transforming how NERC develops its Reliability Standards in three areas: standards initiation, standards development, and balloting.

The MSPPTF invites stakeholders to provide feedback on potential improvement opportunities that will inform draft recommendations to be developed later in 2025. The task force encourages stakeholders to engage with their peers and MSPPTF members and provide feedback by 11:59 p.m. (Pacific) August 27, 2025. To simplify the submission process a standardized form with no character limit has been provided. If an alternative submission mechanism is required, email mspp@nerc.net. Stakeholder feedback will be posted on the MSPPTF webpage.

The task force is focused on transforming current standards processes and procedures to better address the complex and rapidly evolving risk landscape. It seeks to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the process while maintaining its transparent and collaborative stakeholder-based nature that reflects the balance of interests. The MSPPTF will present its final recommendations to the NERC Board in February 2026.

On July 21, the MSPPTF held an informational stakeholder webinar to discuss the contents of the white paper. The webinar recording is now posted along with other MSPP materials on the MSPPTF web page under the Initiatives tab on the NERC website.
