WASHINGTON, D.C. – At its monthly open meeting, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) issued an order directing NERC to develop Reliability Standards that require internal network security monitoring for all high and certain medium impact Bulk Electric System (BES) Cyber Systems. The order also directs NERC to study the risks posed by the lack of internal network security monitoring and the feasibility for requiring it for other BES Cyber Systems.
The ERO Enterprise appreciates FERC's focus on reliability matters and will continue to work with FERC and stakeholders toward assuring the reliability and security of the North American bulk power system.
